The CPU section of the HO Association provides additional manpower to the NWP & TB to assist their initiative to counter poaching in the North West Parks.
The CPU duties include:
* Snare patrol: officers walk the veld looking for snares or signs of poachers
* Fence patrol by foot and by vehicle to look for broken fences
* Nightly fence patrols by vehicle to look for signs of illegal entry
The CPU is also assisted by police reservists as well as a volunteer in a microlight that enables them to locate signs of illegal activities from the air.
